Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in the Republic of Genoa. He had a love for adventure and exploration from a young age which led him to sail the seas for many years and discover new lands. In his lifetime, he traveled as far west as Cuba, east to Venezuela, north to Newfoundland, south around Africa to India and Indonesia. Christopher discovered America after sailing across the ocean blue in fourteen hundred ninety-two! The country is named after him because of this discovery even though he thought it was India at first. Upon his return home people didn’t believe that he had really reached Asia by traveling westward so they wouldn’t support his plans to go back again with more ships. But Christopher persevered on behalf of all future generations
