Tommy Douglas was born October 17, 1904 in Scotland. When he was five years old, his family moved to Canada. Douglas eventually became a doctor and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Saskatchewan (MLA). In 1944, Douglas introduced socialized medicine to Canada, which later became known as Medicare. Due to his work, Douglas is considered the Father of Medicare. He was also one of the founding fathers of the New Democratic Party (NDP). Tommy Douglas passed away on February 24, 1986 at the age of 81. His legacy continues to inspire entrepreneurs everywhere.
