Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois. He wrote stories from a very young age and never stopped. Bradbury’s work has been published in more than 1,000 magazines and journals, including The New Yorker and The Atlantic Monthly. He is the author of nearly 500 books, among them the classic science fiction novel Fahrenheit 451. In all, Bradbury has won more than 50 awards, including the O Henry Memorial Award, the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement, and the Pulitzer Prize Special Citation. He died on June 5, 2012. Even after his death, his words continue to inspire people all over the world.
