Pat Riley, the former head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat basketball teams, is always coming up with new ways to motivate his players. He has had a long career as an NBA coach, going back to 1973 when he was hired by Jerry West while coaching for the San Diego Clippers. Pat did not have much success in his first two years there but in 1975 he became head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers which led them all the way to winning five consecutive championships from 1980-1985. In 1986 Pat left LA and took over as head coach of The New York Knicks before eventually moving on again to become Coach for Miami where he won two more championships in 2006 and 2012.
