Nora Ephron was a filmmaker, journalist, and author who is best known for her romantic comedy films. She started her career as a journalist, writing for magazines such as Esquire and The New York Times. In the late 1970s, she moved into screenwriting and filmmaking, directing and producing films such as Silkwood (1983) and When Harry Met Sally… (1989). Ephron was also a prolific writer, publishing essays and novels including Heartburn (1983) and I Feel Bad About My Neck (2006). Her work often explored the challenges of being a woman in the workplace and in relationships. Ephron remained active until her death in 2012 at the age of 71.
