Nolan Ryan was born in 1947 in Refugio, Texas. He excelled in baseball from a young age, and by the time he graduated from high school, he had set several records. After a successful college career, Ryan was drafted by the Mets in 1965. He made his major league debut two years later and went on to become one of the most dominant pitchers in history. In 1993, Ryan retired from professional baseball with a career record of 5,714 strikeouts. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999. Ryan is considered one of the greatest pitchers ever to play the game, and his legacy continues to inspire players and fans alike.
