Dallas Willard is an American philosopher, educator and writer. He was born on April 27th, 1934 in Redlands California. His parents were both educators and he credits them with his love of reading as well as his desire to be a scholar. In 1963 he graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. During the following year he met Rene Descartes, who had been dead for 250 years at that point, through studying him in school and eventually became fascinated by philosophy while attending graduate school at the University of Southern California from 1964-1966 where he received his PhD in Philosophy.
