He was born on July 26th, 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland to a wealthy family with strict Protestant roots. Jung’s father was an archaeologist and professor who taught at Basel University; his mother was also well educated, though she did not work outside the home. His cousin Siegfried would become one of his closest friends and collaborators for years to come.
