Carl Gustav Jung, better known as C. G., had a successful career in the field of psychology and psychiatry. He was born on July 26th, 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland to a wealthy family with strict Protestant roots. Jung’s father was an archaeologist and professor who taught at Basel University; his mother was also well educated, though she did not work outside the home. His cousin Siegfried would become one of his closest friends and collaborators for years to come.
Jung showed early potential for excellence: he entered Basal School when he was six and graduated from high school at 16 with top grades in all subjects except ancient languages (which were not offered). He then went to medical school at Basel
